BRONX, New York (WABC) -- A prisoner who escaped from a hospital in the Bronx on Friday has been recaptured.

Police say a 42-year-old male prisoner escaped from BronxCare Hospital at 1650 Grand Concourse about 2:10 p.m.

They say he was arrested Friday on a petit larceny charge stemming from an April theft of sneakers from a store.

He was taken to the hospital and later fled. He was recaptured about four hours later.

Police say he has more than 20 prior arrests for burglary, petit larceny and drugs.
